Errol Barnett is CNN International's iReport correspondent, based at the network's world headquarters in Atlanta. He regularly anchors weekend editions of 'CNN Today' and also hosts 'iReport for CNN', CNNI's weekly show that reveals the most compelling videos, pictures and stories generated by CNN's iReporters.
As the first designated on-air reporter for iReport, Barnett is responsible for bringing CNNs iReport photo and video submissions to air across CNNI programs. Barnetts cross-platform approach, including his signature web-cam interview, allows him to interact directly with the iReport submitters while sharing their stories with CNNs television audience.
Barnetts career in journalism started in 2001 at just 18 years of age when Channel One News made him their youngest anchor/reporter for the in-school program. In his five years with Channel One, Barnett covered an array of stories including the 2004 Democratic National Convention; the attacks on September 11, 2001; Hurricanes Ivan and Lily; President Bushs second inauguration; and wildfires in California.
While at Channel One, Barnett also traveled to the Netherlands to report on ecstasy trafficking to the U.S. and even secured an interview with Asa Hutchinson, who was at the time the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency. Other notable stories covered include teenage heroin use in the New England suburbs; credit card debt issues for young people; and violence in schools.
Barnett has also worked for ReelzChannel, serving as a correspondent and host. Based in Los Angeles, Barnett interviewed several U.S. celebrities including Forest Whitaker, Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and Christiane Bale as well as covering film festivals and movie premieres.
Born in Milton Keynes, England, Barnett is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science with a focus on international relations from University of California, Los Angeles in 2008.
